Tomislav Kliškinić - mladi dizajner čija promišljena moda nadilazi granice modnog dizajna i daje upečatljiv statement!

Tomislav:  Stvaranje nečeg uključuje promišljanje, stvaranje ideje i realizaciju.

Tomislav Kliskinic-  young designer whose ruminated fashion transcends the boundaries of fashion design and gives an impressive statement!

In a society where fashion is reduced to a mere aesthetic addition, and identity is produced  serially, a young designer creates ruminated fashion which transcends the boundaries of fashion design. His name is Tomislav Kliskinic!

Fashionbabica: How would you describe the clothes you design?

Tomislav: I would describe itas the line between wearable and non wearable, a combination of elements taken from the theater, but from the street too.

Fashionbabica: How many collections do you have behind? Tell us something about each one of them!

Tomislav:
I presented my first solo collection while I was still a high school student, afterthat I exhibited at Modni Ormar 2011.and my last collection was presented at Split City Fashion in June this year. I prefer to do winter clothes, both for men and women, so materials I use are mainly woolen fabrics, leatherand cotton twill. I am a type of person who likes to have a pen and paper at all times with me, I scribble, I draw, I write whatevercomes to my mind, and then I gather my notes andsketches, and eventually form them into a story. There are more sources of inspiration for me, there is never just oneguiding principle in creating of the collection. Clothing is the way I express, so each piece carriesits own story.

Fashionbabica: In your opinion, to what extent should fashion be astatement, and to what mere aesthetic addition? That is, which is more important among these two or are both equally important?

Tomislav: Creating something involvesreflection, creation and realization. As soon as something consists of  reflection it has a story, I just can’t imagine creating somethingfor no reason at all, without a beginning, but then again it all boils down to  mere aesthetic addition , not because that’s how it is, but because the vast majority of consumers make that out of clothes.

Fashionbabica: Your fashionmodels are AlexanderMcQueen, John Galiano, Christian Dior and Vivienne Westwood! How come you are inspired by these names so much?

Tomislav: Well these are all great designers who were something new at their beginnings, they were milestones, originators of styles. Christian Dior celebrates femininity, elegance is on the first place for him,Galiano is theatrical, he puts theater on the runway, McQueen deliversperformance art on the runway and Vivienne gives street fashion a significance. It’s all about that: elegance, theater, performance art and street fashion, that is where my inspiration to create comes from.

Fashionbabica: In one interview you wrote you would like to dress Josipa Lisac? Why her?

Tomislav: The answer is short, she is a true diva, only true fashion icon in these areas.

Fashionbabica: You did some work for the theater?

Tomislav: Actually, I am on my second year of Master Studies in Costimography, soas a student along with my colleagues Iparticipated in the creation and realization of the costumes for the musical ''Crna kuća” and dance show “La Famme''. In the future I see myself in working in that field and in fashion as well because I love the relationship between the two, their combination.

Fashionbabica: How important what to wear is to you ?

Tomislav: It has changed and dependsfrom day to day, but the mere fact that I contemplate what to wear even for few minutes says that it is important, though I am not the kind of person who follows trends and spends time looking for clothes for myself.

Fashionbabica: What is Tomislav Kliskinic doing when he is not being a designer?

Tomislav: Tomislav is open to everything, from going to the theater to going to the parties, from watching a good movie to watchingsoap operas, from sleeping all day to working24/7, lot of things make me happy and amused.

Rocket Burger- mjesto s uvjerljivo najboljim hamburgerima u gradu, a i šire!

Rocket Burger - the place with convincingly best burgers in the city, and beyond!

The other day after a heavy night out I was taken for a lunch at a Rocket Burger Cafe. According to its name, you can conclude they serve hamburgers there.  I was pretty resentful because I was convinced my evening before tortured stomach will not be able to handle something like a hamburger. But I couldn’t be more surprised after a delicious meal at the Rocket Burger. In this little restaurant, which is located in Tkalčićeva 44 Street, you can eat the best hamurger in Croatia, but not only the best but also the "lightest" . We tend to think that fast food is extremely” heavy”, but a visit to this place will change your vision of this kind of food. Decorated in the style of 60 's diner with a kitchen behind the counter where food is served, Rocket Burger exudes an atmosphere of warmth and hospitality, not only evoking the retro times we are accustomed to see watching American movies and series, but also providing visitors a chance to see how their meal is prepared.

Young married couple Briana and Barclay left Canada in 2006. looking for a better and happier life. As they say, it's not that they didn’t like it in Canada, they just wanted a change. Since Briana’s parents are from Croatian and her father would often talk about his native country, they decided to go where else then to Croatia.  They have dreamed about opening a cafe or a restaurant, anything that would be associated with serving food. The original idea was to open a cafe in which they would serve coffee. And so one day while drinking coffee in Tkalčićeva Street and thinking about possible locations for their coffee place, their eyes fell across the street, at the location that would later become the home of the Rocket Burger. After coffee they decided to have a hamburger, and although many of the hamburgers they tried were excellent, none has had the taste they got  so used to back at home. And then they had an idea - why wouldn’t we open a restaurant that would serve first-class 60 's diner burgers. So spontaneously this family business was created.

What wins you over when you walk into Briana’s and Barclay’s restaurant is not only the fact that this is not just another fast food place, not just the fact that  food is prepared in front of you, but also the fact that their meals are made from first-class groceries. The immediate nearness of the Zagreb’s Dolacmarket, allows them to serve all of their food fresh. So, nothing is frozen or heated. Briana and Barclay and also doing their own mayonnaise and ketchup, and their buns too. It is also important to point out that every burger is made from 100 % beef and  best parts of the meat, and since each animal is different because it comes from organic farming, every burger has a different flavor, regular customers will especially notice it. And there are already plenty of regular customers, even though this diner was opened just few months ago, in May to be exact. How wouldn’t there be when at the Rocket Burger, you can eat not only the  “sweetest" hamburger on earth, but you will also fall for the charm and hospitality of Briana, Barcklay, their cheerful staff and finally the Rocket Burger atmosphere!

Nela introducesus to autumnwith her new collection Lovely Autumn and Fashionbabica brings you the shooting for the mentionedcollection.

Nela o kolekciji:

Nela about the collection:

"Autumn collection 2013. named Lovely Autumn is inspired by and dedicated to the star of the collection, singer – songwriter Dunja Ercegović aka Lovely Quinces. Dunja’s musical direction can be described as indie folk with the influence of americana, and her persona evokes music and film stars from the 60s such as Goddard’s heroine Anna Karina, and some folk divas such as Joan Baez and Melanie Safka. The collection features simple design or etui dresses. Some of them are very festive and are sewn from fine materials such as Chinese silk, but with the right supplements in the form of leather jacket and cowboy boots they can easily transform from a cocktail dress into a true rock 'n roll outfit. This time I sticked to clean lines and focused more on the cuts and less on the painting. Yet there are two painted objects which took a lot of my time, the dress with tassels and shirt sewn from a material like denim. Both items of clothing are decorated with geometric patterns and  I needed few days for drawing. So the collection wouldn’t consist only of dresses, this time I added  gatsbyhigh cut pants which are worn with  raglan sleeve T-shirts this season. I've brought a couple of redesigned items in this collection, two jackets to be exact, which are decorated with tassels, fur and decorative material. Each item is unique, but I plan to make them in a variety of cuts and materials, and by the end of the year I also plan to sew variations of T-shirt with raglan sleeves, and there will also be plenty of models of so called smock dress.

Photos are joint collaboration between my brother and me, and we photographed at the famous Zagreb pub Route 66 which with its ambience and a key factor – the stage( since the  musician is the face of the collection ), fits perfectly into our fashion- music story . For flawless make-up Peter Sever was in charge, and the most important thing was to make a matte surface and perfect 6oies cat eye."
